The Ending - Proximo's gladiators revolt
against Emporer Commodus's praetorians as a diversion to allow
Maximus to escape. Lucilla told Commodus about about
Maximus's plan to escape and reunite with his army because
Commodus threatened to kill her son, Lucius Verus. Cicero,
Proximo and just about all of the gladiators are killed.
Maximus is taken prisoner and informed that he will fight
Commodus in the Coliseum before the Roman people. Before
the fight, Commodus stabs Maximus in the kidney to assure his
success. Maximus is able to fight off his injury and kill
Commodus by stabbing him in the throat. Maximus orders
that Senator Gracchus and the surviving gladiators - including
Juba - be set free. Maximus dies from his stab
wound. Juba is set free and presumably returns to his
homeland.

The Ending - Chili does his best to keep
Harry out of trouble, but Harry makes the mistake of calling Ray
Barboni and telling him that Chili has his money. Bo tries
to set Chili up by having him get the drug money out of the
airport locker. Chili sees the DEA agents watching the
locker and doesn't go for the money inside. Ray shows up
in Los Angeles and beats the crap out of Harry for not handing
over Leo's money. Bo kidnaps Karen and offers to trade her
for Leo's money. Chili brings Leo's money to Bo's house to
trade for Karen, but as Karen and Chili leave Bo tells them he's
going to kill them. Bear steps in the way and starts
hitting Chili. Bear and Bo drag Chili to the deck where
they all wrestle against the railing. The railing gives
way but Bear saves Chili. Chili goes to his hotel room and
finds Ray there waiting for him. Chili hands Ray the key
to the airport locker and tells him that Leo's money is
there. Ray gets arrested as he opens the locker.
Then the set changes to show that Chili's life story is being
turned into a movie. Ray is played by Nathan Weir, the
"shorty" mentioned in the film's title.
